Abbreviations, followed by a period, can be entered in the Speech Display Bar (SDB) to expand to a word or phrase without having to enter the entire thing. This can save the user time and effort. Some abbreviations have already been saved in the Chat software. Those abbreviations cannot be modified or deleted. You can also add new abbreviations, along with the expanded word or phrase, and edit them any time.
To view the existing abbreviation library go to Menu > Application Settings > Abbreviations.
To add a new abbreviation:
Go to Menu > Application Settings > Abbreviations > Menu > New.
Enter the abbreviation to be used.
Select Next.
Enter the text to be displayed and spoken.
Select Save.
To use the abbreviation:
Open the keyboard page.
Enter the abbreviation followed by a period. The abbreviation will expand and speak the word or phrase automatically.
To modify an abbreviation:
Press and hold on the entry.
Select Edit and make appropriate changes.
Select Save.
To delete an abbreviation:
Press and hold on the entry.
Select Delete.
Select Yes to confirm.
