# Abbreviation Expansion

Abbreviations can be added to expand to a word, phrase, or sentence without having to enter the entire word, phrase, or sentence. This can save the user time and effort.

1. Select **Menu** and **Edit Abbreviations**.
2. Select the plus **+** to add an abbreviation.
3. In the space under Abbreviation, type the abbreviated form.
4. In the space under Expands to, type the full word, phrase, or sentence that it will expand to.

6. To test the abbreviation, go to your vocabulary keyboard page and enter the abbreviation followed by a period. The abbreviation should expand.
