This section explains how to change button timing to accommodate each individual appropriately.
Button Timing
To accommodate motor control difficulties, you can set buttons to activate on touch or release, set dwell time, and set release time. Select Menu > Settings and scroll to the Buttons section.
Activate on Release
When this setting is on, buttons are activated when released rather than when touched. This allows the device user to slide his or her finger across the screen before finally releasing on the button that he or she wants to select. Select the Activate on Release toggle button to turn the setting ON/OFF.
Dwell Time
The dwell time setting controls the delay before a button press is recognized. When the user touches a button, a slight dimming and a white square box identifies the chosen button. As long as the user continues to keep his or her finger inside the button area the dwell timer counts down. Once the time is reached, the button press is accepted. To set a dwell time, select Dwell Time and select a value from 0.1 Seconds to 5.0 Seconds.
Release Time
Release time applies to buttons and to the Speech Display Bar (SDB).
Buttons: Release time is intended to help prevent accidental double button activations. When the time is set, all buttons are disabled for the specified period of time after a button is activated.
SDB: Release time is intended to prevent accidental speaking of words displayed in the SDB twice. When the time is set, the SDB is disabled for the specified period of time after the user taps the SDB to speak the words displayed. The Release Time setting does not affect the SDB Clear button (X).
To set a release time, select Release Time and select a value from 0.1 Seconds to 5.0 Seconds.
Enabling and Disabling Button Clicks
When using a vocabulary that requires more than one selection to activate a word, you can turn on the button click sound feature so the user knows they have selected the button.
In the app, select Menu.
Select Settings.
In the Navigation section, find the Button Click Sound setting and slide the switch to turn it on or off..
