Position the User for Head Tracking

Prev Next

It is recommended that the user is positioned parallel to the screen, or as close to parallel as possible. The optimal distance is 18 to 30 inches away. When the user is closer to the system, less head movement is required to move the cursor. When the user is further away, more head movement is required to move the cursor.

Place Reflective Dots to Detect Head Movement

A package of reflective target dots came with the NuPoint module. Simply peel a dot from the sheet. Then place the dot on the forehead of the user between the eyes (or on the nose, brim of a hat, etc.). Or you can affix the dot to a pair of glasses (prescription or non-prescription).

The NuPoint head tracking system calculates how light reflects off the dot to detect the user’s head movement. The on-screen cursor moves in the same direction as the user's head movements.

Observing User Performance

Observe the user’s performance while using the default head tracking settings and note any difficulties the user is experiencing. This will help you decide if adjustments are needed.
