It is important to keep the software up to date. If you are not running the current version of Empower, the software may not include all the features outlined in the manual.
Software Update Notifications
When an Empower software update is available, the update available icon (purple exclamation mark) will appear in the multi-bar status area.
The update available icon will also appear in the System Settings tab (Menu > Toolbox > System Settings). In addition, the Updates tile will display “Update is Available” in purple text.
Software Updates with Wi-Fi
Important: Some updates will take longer than others. You won’t know how long the update will take, so we recommend that you plan downloads for when you will not need to use your device and can keep an eye on the download progress.
Step 1: Connect your device to Wi-Fi.
Step 2: Plug in the battery charger.
Step 3: Follow these instructions to update the software.
Go to Menu > Toolbox > System Settings > Updates. The updates window allows you to choose how to update your device: Wi-Fi or USB Flash Drive.
Select Check for Updates to the right of Update Using Wi-Fi. When an update is available, the Update Available window will open.
Select Download. A warning message appears.
Notes:
The update could take a long time, making your device unusable for up to several hours.
Do not interrupt an update.
Plug in the charger during the update.
The message also asks if you want to proceed with the update.
If you select Yes, the Empower software will close and the update will proceed.
If you select No, the update process will close and Empower will reopen.
If you don’t select Yes or No within one minute, the message will disappear, the update process will close, and Empower will reopen.
If you select Yes, “Downloading” will be displayed. When the download finishes, you will see “Download completed. Would you like to install updates now?”
Select Install. When the update finishes, the application will close and reopen.
Sign in and continue using the application as you normally do.
Software Updates with USB Drive
Important: Some updates will take longer than others. We recommend planning downloads for when the device is not needed and you can keep an eye on the download progress.
Step 1: Download the update file to your computer and copy it to a USB flash drive
Insert your USB flash drive into the computer from which you will download the software update.
On your computer, go to prc-saltillo.com/software-downloads.
Scroll through the list of updates under Accent Empower and select the applicable file. The file will start downloading.
Copy the downloaded file to your USB flash drive.
Remove the USB flash drive from your computer and insert it into your device.
Step 2: Plug in your device’s battery charger
Step 3: Update your device
Make sure the USB flash drive containing the update file is plugged into your device.
