Store Text from the SDB on a Button

The button action Store Text to Button stores the text displayed in the Speech Display Bar (SDB) onto the next button you select. This may be a good alternative to using the Edit Button Properties setting to add text to a button.

Follow these instructions if you are using a vocabulary that does not already include buttons with the Store Text to Button action.

To add the action to a button:

  1. Navigate to the button to which you want to add the action.

  2. Select Menu > Edit Mode.

  3. Select and hold the button. A list of button options opens.

  4. Select Edit Button. The Button Properties are displayed.

  5. Select the Actions tab.

  6. Select the dropdown menu to open a list of actions.

  7. Select the action Store Text to Button.

  8. Select Save.

To add the text from the SDB to a button:

  1. Enter your text in the SDB.

  2. Navigate to the page that contains the button to which you added the action.

  3. Select the button. The text in the SDB will be saved and “SDB text copied” will appear briefly.

  4. Select the button on which you want to store the text.

A confirmation prompt will warn that the text will be stored on the button so you do not accidentally overwrite text that you want to keep.

If you select Yes, the text will be pasted onto the button.

If you do not want to paste the text on this button, select No.
