To access the options for setting up voices, go to Menu > Toolbox > User Settings > Voice. The Voice window allows you to change the pronunciation of words and phrases, change the main voice, change the prompt voice, adjust how fast or slow you want to speak, and adjust the treble and bass level of the selected voice. You can select different voices for the main voice and prompt voice.

Setting the Main Voice and Prompt Voice

The voice settings allow you to choose the voice for speaking messages and the voice for auditory prompts. Although you can choose the same voice for speaking messages and prompts, you may find it best to choose a different voice for prompts.

  1. Go to Menu > Toolbox > User Settings > Voice. Then select Main Voice or Prompt Voice.

  2. Select Change Voice. Then select Adult or Youth. The current voice shows a checkmark.

The Change Main Voice window lists the available voices. A Try it button and a Choose button appear to the right of each voice.

  3. Select Try it for a voice you want to try. Try additional voices until you find the one you want.

Tip: Use the up arrow and down arrow to try available voices on other screens.

  4. When you find the voice you want, select Choose for that voice.

Important: Some voices will require that you Download them first, before selecting. The device will restart when you download a voice.

  5. Adjust the speech rate, treble, and bass. Values for each range from 1 to 10.

  6. To test the voice after making changes, select Try Voice.

  7. Continue to change settings and test the results.

  8. When you are satisfied with the voice, the speech rate, and the treble and bass levels, select Finished.

Create Your Voice with The Voice Keeper

To create the voice:

  1. Download The Voice Keeper app or go to The Voice Keeper website at  thevoicekeeper.com and follow the instructions to create a free account.

As you record your voice, keep in mind the following tips:

    • Ensure you are recording in a quiet, echoless room.

    • Although you can create a custom voice with only 75 sentences, recording more than 150 sentences will increase voice quality. The more you record, the better your synthesized voice will be.

    • Speak naturally. Don’t try to narrate or emphasize pronunciation. Be yourself when you read.

    • Re-record a sentence if you make a mistake.
