Getting Started
Step 1: Install the AeroText App on Your Android Phone
To install the app, type the following address into the Web browser on your phone or point your phone’s camera at the QR code below.

Important: It is critical that you scroll down and read all of the directions for installing the app on your phone before checking the End User License Agreement box.
Check "I agree" to the End User License Agreement, then select the Download AeroText button.
When the download is complete, open the download and select Install.
You will receive a warning message that the app was built for an older version of Android and doesn’t include the latest privacy protection. If you want to proceed with the installation, select the text Install anyway at the bottom of the message.

You may receive another message to confirm that you want to install.
Step 2: Set the AeroText App as your Default Messaging App
For Google Pixel:
Before opening the AeroText application, go to Settings. Select Apps, then AeroText.
Select SMS app. Select the grayed out AeroText option. Read the warning message, and then select Ok.
If you want to proceed with using AeroText, select the Back arrow two times; select AeroText; select the three dots (…) menu at the top right of the screen; and then select Allow Restricted Settings. You may receive another message to confirm you want to proceed.
Select SMS app. Select the AeroText option. Select Ok.
AeroText is now installed and set as your default SMS text messaging application.
For Samsung:
Select Messaging App, then select AeroText.
You will receive the following pop-up message:
“Note: If you restart your device and have a screen lock set, this app can’t start until you unlock your device.”
Select OK.
Select the Back arrow and then select Set as default.
Make sure that “Open supported links” is enabled.
Close the Settings and open the AeroText app.
AeroText is now installed and set as your default SMS text messaging application.
Step 3: Make AeroText Discoverable from the Accent Device
Open AeroText.
To make AeroText discoverable from the Accent device:
Select the No Bluetooth Connection banner at the top.
The following message will appear:
“An app wants to make your phone visible to other Bluetooth devices for 120 seconds”
Select Allow.
AeroText is now waiting for the device to connect to it.
Step 4: Connect Your Android Phone to the Device
Select Menu.
Select Toolbox.
Select System Settings.
Select Devices & Connections.
Select Bluetooth Phone.
Select Pair Device.
Once your phone appears in the list, select Pair.
Select Close and exit from the Toolbox.
You will see a Phone
icon in the Multi-bar of your vocabulary to indicate that your device is connected.
Step 5: Open Text Messaging in Empower
Select Menu.
Select Toolbox.
Select Applications.
Select Text Messaging.

Conversations and Messages
Your existing Conversations will appear in the left-hand column. Messages within a conversation will appear to the right.
Select a conversation to read and respond to messages in that conversation.
Note: Give the messages time to populate. If a conversation has thousands of messages, you will need to wait longer.
To respond to a message, select the Enter Text button and then compose your message. Select Finished when your message is complete.
Select Send.
If you cannot read an entire message from the home screen view, select See Entire Message. Then select the message you would like to view. This function will stay on, until you select See Entire Message again.
Send a Message to an Existing Contact
Select Contacts.
Search for and find the contact you want to send a message to.
Select the green New Conversation button.
Select your desired contact.
Compose your message and then select Finished.
Select Send.
New Text Message Notifications
You will see the message
icon in the multi-bar of your vocabulary when you receive a new text message. In addition, the Conversation will be in bold.
